Stewart, B.C.:The Undiscovered Sledding Destination

The sheer size of our snowmobiling area will dwarf your senses!!

Local Snowmobiling Conditions:

Season: mid-October to June/July
Elevation: Sea level to 8000 feet (2,438 meters)
Average Snowfall: 30 feet (9 meters)
Average winter temperature: 31 degrees fahrenheit (-3 celsius)
Rating: Novice to Expert

Leaving from Stewart and Hyder at sea level, you travel through the scenic Salmon River valley and begin your climb to Nine Mile. The next ten miles are at a steady ascent, taking you to an elevation of 2,300 feet (701 meters). Depending on the time of year, this first 20 miles (32km.) may be accessed by road. Unload your sleds at the start of the snowline. Climb another 500 feet (152 meters) and you are in an endless expanse of white, with only the backdrop of the mountains to give depth perception. From there, it's a matter of pointing your handlebars and choosing your destination.
From novice to the most experienced of mountain riders, this panoramic area is bound to test your skills; from awe-inspiring glaciers to ancient lake bottoms. Don't forget to pick up some spare gas from town and take it with you, as well as safety supplies and food. Be prepared!

Pack it in, Pack it out!      Enjoy!       Be a Safe Rider!
